Professor at IESP-UERJ, Researcher of the Conselho Nacional de Ciência e Tecnologia (CNPq) and Member of the Brazilian National Order of Scientific Merit. PhD in Political Science from the University of Chicago, she has been Full Professor of Political Science at the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP) from 1983 to 1998. She has been Senior Researcher at the Centro Brasileiro de Análise e Planejamento (CEBRAP) from 1991 to 2005, as well as Coordinator of the Department of Politics and Society and of the Scientific Board, as well as Director of the Centro de Estudos da Metrópole (CEM). Currently, she is Associate Researcher. She has been Researcher in various universities and research centers, such as the Centre de Recherche Travail et Société (IRIS-TS), Université Paris IX; Institute for Social Research, Oslo, Norway; Political Science Departament, University of Chicago; Department of Political Science, New York University (2001); Department of Political Science, MIT (2005), among others. Her main areas of research are political institutions, relations between executive and legislative, public policies and elections.

PhD in Development Studies from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS/Paris, 1997). He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Universidade Federal da Bahia (2002-2004, PRODOC/FAPESB fellowship), as well as at Sciences Po Paris (2008-2009, CAPES fellowship). He has been International Civil Servant at UNESCO in the sector of Social and Human Sciences (Paris, 1995-2002), professor at Sciences Po Paris (1997-2002) and visiting professor at the following universities: Université de Montréal, Universidad de Colima, UFRGS, Universidad Complutense de Madrid and University of Stellenbosch. He has been Executive Secretary of the Brazilian Association of Political Science (ABCP) between 2012 and 2016. Productivity Fellow of CNPq, Cientista do Nosso Estado of FAPERJ and fellow of the Pro-Ciencia program of the UERJ. His main areas of research are international development cooperation as agenda of external policy; actors and agendas of Brazilian external policy; external policy in a comparative perspective.

Graduate in Law from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) in 1963, he holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of California (1969) and a PhD (Notório Saber) in Political Science from the Universidade Candido Mendes (2002). Currently, he is Professor at the UERJ. His main areas of interest are Political Theory, History of Political Ideas, Situation Analysis, Democracy, Nationalisms, External Policy. His most recent articles deal with external policy of the United States during the administrations of Clinton and Bush.

PhD in Political Science from the former IUPERJ, current IESP-UERJ, in 2007. He is Professor of Brazilian Political Thought at the IESP-UERJ and Researcher at the Casa de Rui Barbosa Foundation. He teaches State Theory and Brazilian Constitutional Thought in the graduate program in Law at the Universidade Veiga de Almeida (UVA). He is Researcher Jovem Cientista do Estado at the FAPERJ and Productivity Researcher at the CNPq. He currently coordinates the graduate program in Political Science at the IESP, the work group of Political Theory and Brazilian Political Thought of the Associação Nacional de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa em Ciências Sociais (ANPOCS), the Thematic Area of Brazilian Political Thought of the Brazilian Association of Political Science (ABCP) and he is member of the Executive Board of the Instituto Brasileiro de História do Direito (IBHD). He is Editor of the journal Insight Inteligência. In 2003-2004, he was Researcher at the Centre d’études sociologiques et politiques Raymond Aron, EHESS, Paris, and Visiting Researcher at the Casa de Rui Barbosa Foundation (FCRB) between 2006 and 2010. He was Associate Professor at the Department of Public Law of the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF) between 2006 and 2012, Associate Professor at the School of Political Science of the Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO) between 2010 and 2014, and Visiting Professor at the Universidade Agostinho Neto (Luanda, Angola) and at the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo (Mendoza, Argentina). He is the author of Da Monarquia à Oligarquia: história institucional e pensamento político brasileiro (1822-1930) (Alameda, 2014 – preface of Pierre Rosanvallon) and Monarquia sem Despotismo e Liberdade sem Anarquia: o pensamento político do Marquês de Caravelas (UFMG – preface of Antônio Manuel Hespanha).

Graduate in Social Science from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) (2000), she holds a Master’s degree (2003) and a PhD (2007) in Political Science from the IUPERJ. She completed part of her PhD research at the Università Degli Studi di Padova, in Italy. She has been Associate Professor at the Department of Political Science of the UFRJ, as well as of the graduate program in Comparative History of the same institution, and of the graduate program in Political Science of the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF). Currently, she is Professor at the IESP-UERJ, Coordinator of the Núcleo de Estudos em Teoria Política (NUTEP) and Editor of the journal Revista Estudos Políticos. She is the author of: Polícia e Direitos Humanos: Política de Segurança Pública no Primeiro governo Brizola (1983-1986) (Rio de Janeiro, 2005 – Revan), Modos da Representação Política: o experimento da Primeira República brasileira (Belo Horizonte, 2009 –  UFMG) and Teoria das Elites (Rio de Janeiro, 2011 – Zahar).

Graduate in Journalism and Communication, as well as in International Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; she holds a Master’s degree from the University of Northwestern – Medill School of Journalism and Mass Communication and a PhD in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles (2008). She completed a Fulbright fellowship at the International Institute of Education (2004-05); at the Joan Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics and Public Policy in the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University (2007); and at the Consejo de Estudios Latino-americanos e Ibéricos (CLAIS) in The Whitney and Betty MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies, Yale University (2010). Before living in Brazil, she was Associate Professor at the department of Political Science of the University of New Orleans (2008-2013). Currently, she is Associate Professor at the IESP-UERJ. She conducts research on media and political leadership in dictatorships and mechanisms of accountability in the presidential systems in Latin America.

Graduate in Social Science from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1986), he holds a Master’s degree in Political Science (Political Science and Sociology) from the Instituto Universitario de Pesquisa de Rio de Janeiro – IUPERJ (1990) and a PhD in Political Science (Political Science and Sociology) from the same institution (1994). In this Institute, he has been Professor and Researcher for more than fifteen years. Since 2010, he is Professor and Researcher at the IESP-UERJ, where he coordinates the Núcleo de Estudos sobre o Congresso (NECON). He has been President of the Brazilian Association of Political Science (2008-2012), Associate Editor of the Journal of Politics in Latin America, and member of the Editorial Board of DADOS – Revista de Ciências Sociais (from 2006 to 2009). He teaches and conducts research on the subareas of legislative studies, Brazilian political institutions, and theory and practice of social democracy in the contemporary world.

Graduate in Social Science with a Master’s degree in Philosophy from the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1988 and 1997), he also holds a Master’s degree and a PhD in Political Science from the City University of New York, Graduate Center (1998, 2003). He has been Professor of Political Science at the IUPERJ from 2003 to 2010 and at UNIRIO from 2010 to 2012. Since 2010, he is Professor of Political Science at IESP-UERJ. He is Coordinator of the Grupo de Estudos Multidisciplinares da Ação Afirmativa (GEMAA) and of the Laboratório de Estudos de Mídia e Espaço Público (LEMEP). He has publications in the areas of political theory, history of the concepts, public policies, racial relations and studies of the media. He conducts research on: affirmative action policies, racial relations, media and public sphere, media and elections, political theory, theory of recognition and theory of conceptual history.

Productivity Fellow of the CNPq, level 2, Cientista do Nosso Estado of the FAPERJ, she currently is Associate Professor at IESP-UERJ and Coordinator of Red de Pesquisa Agendas e Atores de Política Externa (http://agendasdepoliticaexterna.com.br/). She has been Associate Professor of the Institute of International Relations of the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (1997-2014), and Editor of the journal Brazilian Political Science Review of the Brazilian Association of Political Science (ABCP) along with Gilberto Hochman (Fiocruz) from 2006 to 2012. She has been Visiting Research Associate of the Brazilian Studies Programme/ Latin American Studies of Oxford University in 2012. She is a specialist in Brazilian External Policy, and conducts research on the following subjects: decision making process, South-South cooperation, democracy and external policy, analysis of external policy. She has published various articles in Brazilian and international journals on contemporary Brazilian external policy. Leticia Pinheiro has been Executive Secretary of the Brazilian Association of Political Science (ABCP) from 2006 to 2008.

PhD in Political Science from the Vanderbilt University (1986), she currently is Professor at IESP/UERJ and Coordinator of the Observatorio Político Suramericano – OPSA/UERJ. She has been Associate Professor at IUPERJ from 1976 to 2010 and Professor of the Institute of International Relations of the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro, for almost twenty years. She mainly works on the following subjects: Brazilian external policy, political institutions, political economy, social policy and international system.

Associate Professor at IESP-UERJ and at the Centro de Ciências Jurídicas e Políticas (CCJP) of the UNIRIO. He has taught Theory of Law at the Universidade Gama Filho from 2011 to January 2014 and Theory of the State at the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF) from 2010 to March 2014. PhD in Political Science from the IUPERJ in 2009. Fellow DAAD/CAPES in the Otto-Suhr-Institut für Politikwissenschaft, Freie Universität Berlin, in Germany. He holds a Master’s degree in Law from the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro, PUC-Rio, (2000) and a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the same institution (1997). He has experience as Professor and Researcher in the areas of Political Theory, Theory of the State and Theory of Law. He is the author of the book Secularização Inacabada: Política e Direito em Carl Schmitt, published in 2011 in Brazil and in Germany in 2013, under the title Die unvollendete Säkularisierung. Graduate in Social Science from the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (1968), he holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from the IUPERJ (1970) and a PhD in Political Science from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor (1978). Emeritus Professor at the Department of Political Science of the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (DCP-UFMG), since 2010 he is Professor at IESP-UERJ after having been Researcher and Professor at the IUPERJ fore more than 40 years. He coordinates the Instituto de Ciência e Tecnologia em Políticas Públicas, Estratégias e Desenvolvimento (INCT-PPED) and the Núcleo de Estudos do Empresariado, Instituições e Capitalismo (NEIC/IESP-UERJ). In the area of Political Science, he has conducted research on the following subjects: State formation, democracy, public policies, interest representation, development and comparative policy with particular emphasis on Latin America.

Graduate in Social Communication and Social Sciences from the Universidade de São Paulo (USP); he holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV/SP) in the area of Economy and Politics of the Public Sector, and a PhD in Political Science from the department of Political Science of the Universidade de São Paulo (DCP/USP). From 2009 to 2010, he was Visiting Researcher of the department of Political Science of Stanford University, United States. He conducts research on Comparative Politics and Political Methodology. Recently, he has worked on the following subjects: political institutions, public policies, social policies, federalism, elections and political behavior.
